Ingredients

Philly-Cheesesteak Sandwiches

  • 2 tsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 yellow onion medium, thinly sliced on the vertical
  • 8 oz mushrooms thinly sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper thinly sliced
  • 2 tsp oregano
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 lb sirloin steak thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1 Tbsp 100% whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup vegetable broth no sugar listed in ingredients
  • 4 oz provolone cheese slices, about 1 oz each slice
  • 4 each 100% whole wheat hoagie rolls or 4 whole grain hot dog buns (see notes above)

Steam in the Bag Green Beans

  • 1 bag frozen green beans steam-in-the-bag

Instructions

Philly-Cheesesteak Sandwiches

  • Heat oil in large skillet until hot. Add sliced onion and cook 4 minutes. Add mushrooms and peppers and cook 7 minutes. Add seasonings and steak. Cook 4 minutes or until steak is almost cooked through. Add flour and stir to coat steak and vegetables. Stir in broth. Cook until liquid is evaporated. Lay cheese on top of meat and vegetables in skillet. Turn off heat and allow cheese to melt. Add meat, vegetables, and cheese to buns.

Steamed Green Beans

  • Cook beans according to package directions.
