Wine Braised Cabbage

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 onion thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 head green cabbage shredded
  • 10 oz carrot grated
  • 3/4 cup sweet Riesling wine or apple juice
  • 1 Tbsp celery seed
  • 1 Tbsp white wine vinegar

Instructions

  • Heat oil. Add onion, carrots, and salt. Saute 5 minutes. Add cabbage. Cook 5 more minutes. Turn heat to high and stir in wine, pepper, and celery seeds. Bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer 20 min. stir in vinegar

Notes

We served this with grilled Roasted Red Pepper Chicken Sausages from Applegate Organics and black eyed peas.
