Maybe some of you don’t know…but, 90/10 Nutrition has dozens of coaches that actively support people with both 90/10 Nutrition as well as workout programs and sometimes even just life issues.
Why do we do that? Well, you might say that it is because we make a living (or just extra income) that way. The fact is though, it started and continues with a very specific mission. It is a mission to change people’s lives in one particular area…to see them realize that food can be easy, enjoyable, and plentiful while still maintaining or losing weight…to see that losing weight doesn’t require packaged “low calorie” fake foods and stuff that is meant to mimic unhealthy foods…to see that the food industry has tricked us into buying stuff that only makes things worse…to see what is in our food today and be appalled! That is what we set out to do!
You know what? It’s working too! People are reading labels and wondering why they ever ate that stuff. They are feeling full and satisfied on real food and often not even craving the junk they used to love. But, what is even more amazing is that it has spilled over into other areas of their lives. Relationships have been changed, other health issues have gone away, new confidence has been gained, the desire to help others has been realized, etc.
Here is one such story of someone that just recently signed up to help us coach people and change lives. She agreed to let me share this story she wrote to me and her mentor coach in an email:
“Hi. So I’m a little behind in my training, so I’m following Day 2’s homework and sharing my why with you both. It’s a bit of a short novel…so I apologize, but it feels great to share this and to truly understand myself!
Why did I sign up to be a coach? There are so many reasons that I need to dig deep to figure out the true underlying reason. Yes I’d love to work less, to earn extra money, help contribute more to the girls’ education funds…but truly, I want to help people. My journey since August has made me feel completely empowered about the journey. And it IS a journey. It’s a journey that has connected me to amazing people, amazing products and the power that positivity can make in your life.
At 43 I was emotionally at a place I had never been, full of despair over the loss of my best friend after an 8 year battle with cancer and as one of her caregivers in the last 2 years. I stopped finding the good in anything, laughter was not something I participated in because of feelings of guilt for being happy with all that was happening to her. I stopped participating in the strong relationships I had with other girlfriends again out of guilt because of what was going on with my best friend. I felt like I was such a negative force in the presence of others that I just didn’t want to be around anyone. Then she died in January, 2013 and it got worse. In August something snapped and changed in me where I said enough is enough.
My daughter had written her first paper in college about an event that changed her life forever, and she wrote about my story with my friend. Her paper changed everything for me. She talked about how quickly she had to grow up when I was consumed with caring for my friend, and how she stepped in to help take care of her sisters when she knew I couldn’t. She talked about how her happiest days were the days where she could get me to smile, and rarely laugh. She remembers vividly the day she came home from school and found me in a robe looking like a frail ghost and she knew that my friend had died…I was so embarrassed after reading her paper because I never thought about the life changing effects that situation had put on EVERYONE in my life…my children, my husband, my girlfriends, my family…But I also knew I didn’t have the emotional or physical strength to worry about all of that when I was trying to heal myself. I had been completely myopic which is something I have NEVER been in my life as a mother of 3 daughters.
So after reading her perspective of that time in our lives, I decided to not only be strong again, but to be the strongest I had EVER been, to honor my friendship with and to do this in her memory. I know she would be so proud of all the changes I have made since August. I also wanted to be the strong female influence in my daughters’ lives. Weight loss was one positive change, but it was more like I morphed when the pounds came off. I shed the negativity, found 90/10, joined a challenge group and I have never been stronger, more focused, more determined, more healthy or more in love with life and the journey of life!
So for me, if I can help anyone change someone’s life in any positive way, I know I am paying it forward because I found you when I didn’t even know that I needed you. Everyone has a story of their journey and their reasons. I want to learn about those and help change lives. I want others to be positive again and feel good about themselves. Now if I can make money along the way…well, it’s a win win for everyone!
Thank you for reading and thank you for the positive changes you have made in my life!”
Those are the kind of stories we hear often at 90/10 Nutrition and it is in line with why we do what we do.
