Filled with BBQs, parties, campfires, sporting events, summer is a wonderful time of year but because we’re out of our normal routines, our healthy habits can get put on pause until September. With 90/10 Nutrition on your side, there are so many great options for making sure that you don’t undo all of the hard work you’ve completed throughout the rest of the year.
Here are a few great tips for keeping your 90/10 Nutrition lifestyle on point all summer long.
Pre-plan your meals
At the beginning of the week, before you do your grocery shopping, take a moment to think about what your plans are for the week and then plan your meals around your schedule. Be honest with yourself! Are you really going to make that elaborate healthy meal on a night when your little one has soccer practice? Or will the ingredients sit in the fridge because you decide to order a pizza instead? Make sure that the meals you plan work for your schedule and you will be much more successful at following through with actually eating them. Also anything that you can prep on Sunday will already be waiting for you all week long!
Don’t skip breakfast
We are all busy. And we want to take advantage of every minute of this beautiful season which means that we rush out the door on many mornings. Have a breakfast plan in place so you have no excuses not to start your day with a healthy breakfast. Pre-made grab and go options are even better, especially if you have kids on the run too.
Contribute a healthy option to potlucks and BBQs
The best way to ensure that you have a healthy option to eat at all your summer get-togethers is to bring it yourself. Not everything needs to be mayonnaise laden or full of fat. Create a dish that helps you achieve your nutrition goals and you’ll be setting yourself up for success. If you’re concerned that won’t be enough to satisfy you, consider having a snack before you leave the house to take the edge off of your hunger and give you the opportunity to make healthy choices.
Eat your favorites (in moderation)

If there’s a certain summer treat you are craving, plan your day so that you are able to include it with no guilt. Planning your treat and making sure to portion it moderately gives you the motivation to keep working on your healthy lifestyle without feeling deprived or like you want to dive headfirst into a gallon of ice cream. Sensible, moderate choices make us successful overall.
