This past Thursday, I had the pleasure of speaking with Darin Olien, co-creator of Shakeology and the man that has been dubbed the “Indiana Jones of Superfood Hunting.” The entire February challenge group was invited on the call and we were able to hear his story and how his work progressed to the stage it is at now. It was a very informative and reaffirming call that what we are doing on our 90/10 journey is truly something remarkable.
The call focused on what processed and whole foods actually do to our bodies and why it is important to focus on balanced, whole nutrition. Understanding what is in food and making sure the body is consistently receiving at least 90% of whole, nutritious foods on a daily basis is essential to living a healthy, balanced, and reduced risk of disease kind of lifestyle. We also discussed how addiction to unhealthy food is able to be overcome little by little as opposed to simply all at once.
It was also amazing to hear how Shakeology has come into play and the significant amount of work that goes into its creation. Darin Olien used terms like “life benefiting, health giving” when mentioning the rare and incredibly nutritious ingredients found in Shakeology. It was also warming to hear how the creation of Shakeology has made a major impact on local and impoverished farming communities that would otherwise not have the opportunity to participate in commerce.
In case you were unable to be on the call, and you are not in the current challenge group, I wanted to share the MP3 and the Youtube video with you. I truly hope you will all listen in and learn all about his journey, the power of food, and the meaning of actually using food to lead a healthy and happy life. I am happy to answer any questions you may have or even to simply discuss some of the key points that speak to you the most.
